Why ADD Password Security is Essential

Auto Data Direct's core business is to provide real-time motor vehicle inquiry solutions to qualified companies under the Federal Driver's Privacy Protection Act (DPPA). The DPPA governs the privacy and disclosure of personal information gathered by state DMVs, and plays an important part in protecting all of us from unwanted or potentially dangerous access to our personal information.

Hey California (and the rest of the US) - We’ve got what you need!

With the recent passage of AB 1215 by the California legislature (pending the Governor’s signature) automobile dealers are required to run a National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) report on every used car on their lot before the sale. Auto Data Direct makes it as easy as 1-2-3 by providing real-time internet access from your desktop to the national database!

ADD Has Tools for Auto Fraud Investigators

George Armstrong, the newest member of ADD’s sales force, attended the Florida Insurance Fraud Education Committee Annual Conference (FIFEC), on behalf of ADD on June 8-10, 2011. George was intrigued to learn that private investigators, police officers, insurance administrators and lawyers say that THE #1 website for auto fraud is Craigslist. A common scheme involves a criminal posting a sale listing for an expensive classic car (with pictures) on Craigslist. When potential buyer calls, the scammer explains that he has had overwhelming interest in the car, and if the caller really wants to buy the car, he will have to give the seller a deposit. Of course, the scammer collects the deposit from the would-be purchaser and disappears into the ether.

National Title Pointer now includes Theft and Lien data

ADD is pleased to announce the re-design of its National Title Pointer Report to include theft and lien information. Title Pointer reports contain data from the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS), and can be helpful for businesses that need to locate the current state of title for a vehicle.

End of Tag-Talk leaves Florida businesses on hold

For years many Florida counties have offered qualified businesses access to Tag-Talk, an automated telephone information system that provides call-in access to Florida tag, title and VIN information. This year, in part due to the ratification of legislation requiring the collection of a $.50 fee on each inquiry, many counties are turning off the call-in inquiries. Most Tag-Talk systems are not designed to allow the collection of fees. The discontinuation of service has affected thousands of users statewide.

ADD expands, re-brands state DMV search

When AutoDataDirect was founded in 1999, our goal was to provide businesses real-time access to Florida motor vehicle information directly from the Florida DMV. Fast forward twelve years and the number of states in which ADD offers access has grown to twenty-- with another eight in the works.
